Week 5 nolooking ⚡️👀 PPPs

Til this point we've been working on delivering the minimum delightful product. We're out on umbrel and its' time to accumulate new users and fine tune the project submission. Now we batch input and output channel opens in a single transaction.

I think we finally deliver a minimum value, it's time to focus efforts on getting to the market. I think it's a bit shameful I hesitate to release work. Our team is helping me get over it and ship.

Progress

We just staged nolooking v0.2.0-alpha to the umbrel app store.

Inbound Channels

The update lets you pay for inbound & outbound channels in one QR scan to bootstrap your new node. so we can say we delivered on our promise.

Required Reserve

Lightning nodes require a reserve for anchor payments. We calculate it and add it automagically. so you don't have to think. Just scan and go.

Problems

• We're not famous yet

• We couldn't connect to our voltage app for a while. The TLS certificate was rotated, and the one available in the dashboard was incorrect. Fortunately Graham, their CEO is a real one and personally helped when I reached out on a Saturday morning.

• Compiling for on aarch64 takes ages

• We've got a bunch of half-baked features on the back burner.
  That includes

  • suggesting good outbound connections

  • displaying detailed errors in the UI

  • Sending PayJoins from LND

  • detailed logging to speed up debugging

  • Many interested early adopters are not on umbrel and LND. We've gotten multiple requests to support different software like raspiblitz, ciphernode, and CLN.- we're not showing you much for error states yet. It's hard to debug what went wrong but it's getting better.

• We're discussing PayJoin with the Bitcoin Design Community December 6th. Join us!

• Deliver documentation to manually install nolooking

• Submit to the judges 🙇🏻‍♂️
