Week 1 Retro: (Building the Foundation)

The Mission

Funding Channels are a pain. We can fix them with PayJoin to get privacy and keep the UTXO set down while opening lightning channels. So we introduced our team and project Nolooking. Our mission is to bootstrap any Node in one private transaction. Read our first maker story. 🚀

Progress ✅

We made progress on a number of fronts this week.

  • 1️⃣ Users are already excited to use Nolooking with their personal BIP78 sending capable wallets: https://twitter.com/1440000bytes/status/1581257898142752768

  • 🐦 We attempted our first Mainnet channel live on twitter spaces and jitsi**.** “Yolo, we’ll do it live” was a great first experiment. We’ll prepare for more edge cases next time.

  • 🌐 The Nolooking website is live at: https://nolooking.chaincase.app.

  • 🌩️ Ran our Mainnet Lightning node on Voltage (open a channel with us!)

  • 💰We added a way to support us on our website. When you’re feeling generous send us a few sats. They will go a long way to help us run this infrastructure and deliver faster to you.

  • ✨ The first ever PayJoin channel opens happened on the Nolooking software to clearnet and tor nodes

  • ⚡ We asked the Co-founder of Boltz whether he’d implement PayJoin withdrawals if there was a suitable library. He said yes on Stacker News! said he’ll implement PayJoin when it’s ready for him

  • 📚 Drafted our second maker second story titled, Multistage Rust Docker Builds for Umbrel Apps. Read more about it here

Problems

  • We need your feedback! Test here with Sparrow and JoinMarket please

  • Integration tests are non-deterministic. This is blocking CI and CD.

  • Docker build process is currently unoptimized. Building ARM takes 20 minutes

  • No inbound liquidity on first open. Plan is to fix this using services like Zero Fee Routing
