We needed team alignment for 2024 so we did a design sprint (for ourselves)

Last week the PEAK SHIFT/BOLT.FUN started a planning session at our office in Belgrade about the future of the platform and maker community. It was an all-hands kind of meeting that eventually lasted 3 hours. In typical PEAK SHIFT fashion it was structured as a design sprint, so we used workshop tools like expert interviews, "How might we", affinity mapping all with sticky notes!

A big theme that arose from the workshop was "how might we improve communication" about the various things we've done, about the features of the platform, about what the community's goals are... why does it even exist?!

Alignment is critical for a team, especially when team members are remote. What came out was something kind of surprising, even if we've done these sessions for clients ourselves with the same results I realised it brought the team closer together and as the one who typically sets the larger vision/stratgegy for what we do, even I sometimes forget that it's important to get everyone else up to speed on things since i keep so much in my own head.

Since that workshop we started

  1. Dalia is working on developing some ideas for how we can get the word out using other social networks cause we need to amplify our message

  2. We started writing a Maker Manifesto to help the community relate better with this movement

  3. We need to come up with a short description

  4. Started working on a Maker Handbook to help makers navigate the platform and have information upfront about how tournaments work

BONUS: Oh here's some short taglines we generated based on the manifesto we started writing up.
