Three New Connectors - LNC, LNBits, Mutiny!
This week we released a new version of Bitcoin Connect with three new connectors for a total of 6:
- LNC
- LNbits
- Mutiny
As well as a number of improvements: (updated icons with better animations, an improved generic NWC connection page rather than showing a simple javascript prompt).
Bitcoin Connect is a neutral and fully open source package, just like the Alby extension. We would like to support as many connectors as possible, as this gives more options to the user, and more easy for them to seamlessly connect their wallet to their favorite webapps.
A connector in Bitcoin Connect simply creates a provider for the WebLN interface. This means that no matter which wallet you choose to connect to, the webapp only has to support WebLN - it doesn't need to know how to connect to all these different wallets.
So let's go into a bit more detail about the new connectors we added.
LNC is a way to easily, securely and privately connect to your lightning node using a simple pairing phrase, without needing to use TOR. Learn about it more here.
LNbits is an awesome open source accounting system for connecting to different lightning node and wallet backends. It powers Lightsats, the winner of the last BOLT FUN Legends of Lightning hackathon.
Mutiny is a great self-custodial wallet that supports Nostr Wallet Connect.
If you have any ideas or requests for connectors, please let us know, or feel free to create a pull request!
We also did a session with Bumi and Adithya on BOLT FUN - part 3 of our Building on Lightning and Nostr series (2023 edition) which we walked through Alby's new Zap Button package, which is powered by Bitcoin Connect as well as Alby's JS sdk and lightning tools.
