Steady and Lasting Progress

Progress remains steady on Resolvr. The core team added two additional members this week (a fedimint🔅/ Bitcoin (₿) dev and a front end/web app dev).

The team broadcast its weekly all-hands call over nostr for the first time this week. Check in every Monday at 1:00pm ET on Zap.stream!

More groundbreaking progress was made on bringing FROST🥶 (a flexible cryptographic scheme that enables granular collaborative signing and custody with lower on-chain footprint and better privacy than traditional multisig) to the fedimint🔅 protocol. The use-cases for FROST🥶-powered fedimints🔅 extend well beyond bounty-adjudication and will unlock a wave of exciting innovation in bitcoin!

And the team’s determination continues to be fueled by examples of problems with the current open-source bounty market. The need for decentralized dispute resolution has never been more apparent.

Project Roadmap:

  • Build bespoke nostr🦩 bounty board.

  • Fork CelebrityEscrow for bitcoin (₿) escrow

  • Develop fedimint🔅 bounty review coordinator module

    • Tier 1: AI🤖

    • Tier 2: Sorting reviewing developers into jury panels

  • Implement FROST🥶 into fedimint🔅 to sign (₿) escrow transactions consistent with review panel decision and sign nostr🦩 events on behalf of the federation.

  • Build front-end for reviewers to interface with fedimint🔅 coordinator, allowing access to bounty materials, ability to sign votes, and access to earnings.

  • Conduct design research with alpha testers in all roles.

Progress

  • FediMint🔅:

    • FROST🥶: Successfully generated distributed key with each FediMint🔅 guardian printing same public key with different key share.

    • FROST🥶: Successfully signed a simple text message (“ResolvrFROST”) through FediMint🔅 consensus mechanism with public key shared by Guardians:

    Message signed with FROST through FediMint consensus mechanism.

    • NEXT STEP: Have FediMint🔅 Guardians sign as one collective key holder in 2/3 multisig.

  • Escrow (₿): Exploring more established BDK miniscript multisig solutions as alternative to celebrityescrow.org.

  • UI/UX: User stories created for bounty board and escrow interfaces to define core features.

Problems

  • FediMint🔅: Need to bridge decision of review panel (users of webapp) to federation signature (produced by Guardians running mint software) for escrow transaction without having reviewers serve as guardians and run full FediMint🔅 software.

  • bitcoin (₿): more attention needed on escrow system (looking for more bitcoin script 🧙s)
