PPPS: Week 5 - Lightsats⚡️

Plans 📆

  • Optimize new user onboarding flow, need to simplify it reducing and optimize for

  • Work on email templates used for the welcome email, authentication emails and reminder emails

  • Automated reminders for tippees of expiring funds, need to have a way to remind the user to download a wallet and withdraw their funds

    These tasks carried over from Week 4

  • Start implementing multi-language support

  • Allowing tipper to use their reclaimed sats as funds to create new ones

  • Build user personas for a tipper and a tippee.

  • Work on branding - logo, brand image, branding colors

  • Accomplishments:

    • Our users have sent out a combined total of 553,523 sats (about 53% of those are mine)

    • Tipper New Tip Creation and update screens - we update the tipper in real-time with the progress of the person receiving their tip, we update from the moment the tip is first seen to when it has been claimed then through each onboarding step we take them until the tip has been withdrawn to an LN Wallet.

  • Continue building our user guides, and added listings on our Spend, Ear, Buy, Save, Donate, Learn, and Wallets categories.

    Lightsats Bitcoin Guides

  • Integrate an SMS provider for 2FA, we first integrated with Twillio but their KYC process was more rigorous than buying bitcoin on an exchange. So I happened to see a post on SN on what types of projects people could build on Lightning and I asked for a Twillio version with an API to integrate but paying with sats for the SMS and that’s when https://stacker.news/zman from https://sms4sats.com said they’d build it in a few days for us to use!

  • Assisted the BitMiami Dev Meetup on Monday, November 7th, had the chance to demo our project to everyone, and got a really good response and feedback. After the meetup, we went to a local bar called The Anderson where I was able to test our app with the bartender. I ordered a drink and asked the bartender if he’d be okay with me tipping him in bitcoin and he agreed. I loaded $10 as a tip set the expiry date to 30 days and he scanned the QR Code and claimed his sats. He is still sitting in the wallet journey and has not proceeded, he still has about 23 days left to withdraw the funds so we are going to try and build reminders so we can get the user to take action. We still need a lot of improvement on the user flow, making it simple for them to follow and understand that we want them to withdraw their sats right away.

  • On Friday I also had the opportunity of tipping a server after ordering lunch for takeout, I asked her if she’d be okay with me giving her a tip in bitcoin and she was extremely excited about it, I loaded a $10 tip and had her scan the QR Code and redeem the funds. This time I did a bit more of a walk-through myself and we had already integrated SMS for authentication so it was a lot easier to accomplish.

  • Did a Twitter post announcing our Bitcoin Guide page and tagged some of the companies on the list and got an incredible response and exposure. Was able to get around 100 followers from this single post https://twitter.com/Lightsats21/status/159069549341942989

Problems ✋

  • No problems for this past week, we just need to optimize a new user onboarding experience to help with downloading a wallet and withdrawing their funds without issues.
