Payment Request Modal Design, UI improvements, Zapddit
This week in bitcoinConnect Jakub created an awesome design for a request payment UI. A lot of sites have to re-invent the wheel to create a nice payment UX and it's hard to get right (WebLN support, QR code payments, open in wallet app, copy invoice, loading spinners, ...) - what if with a single line of code you could receive payments that handles this all for you? additionally, users can connect their wallet to enable seamless follow up payments out of the box. What do you think of the design? you can see a prototype video here - let us know if you have any feedback!
On mobile the UX will be a bit different to prioritize the default option of switching to a separate wallet app to make the payment, but all the same options are available to the user.
I'm currently working on a draft implementation of this. Soon it'll be easy for all websites to now have a great payment UX because the Bitcoin Connect library is powered by Web Components which work in any web framework as well as pure HTML.
There's also been a lot of minor but important UI fixes: button spacing, hr color and margins, button border color and balance background gradient, simplified and consistent error messages across the library, as well as a refactor to simplify the implementation of connector pages (which will make it easier for new contributors to add connectors!).
Lastly, https://zapddit.com/, a Nostr-powered Reddit clone, integrated Bitcoin Connect less than 24 hours of hearing about it. Read their post on nostr. Zaps enable an alternative of ranking upvotes which in my opinion has a much stronger signal of quality content. Bitcoin Connect makes it possible for you to "Upzap" posts from your mobile or any web browser that doesn't have a WebLN extension installed.
Did you see any other apps integrate Bitcoin Connect recently? let us know!
Until next time,
Roland, Jakub and Rene
