Paying advertisement revenues to viewers

Hacking idea 💡

How could we allow users to earn money for advertisements they are forced to watch, or surveys they're asked to take, through platforms like YouTube, Twitter, etc?

If the product is free, the user is likely to be the product...

HMW enable users/viewers to benefit from having ads thrown at them?

Context...

Last night I was watching a video on YouTube and a survey popped up asking me to answer a multiple choice question. Immediately, I had a feeling of "How dare you spam me with a survey 🤬" ... but then a thought occurred to me... what if I could be paid for answering that survey, or sitting through an advert?

It reminded me of Brave browser's original USP, allowing the user to earn small amounts of Brave tokens for watching adverts, etc. Could this be something that allows the user to take part in a more direct v4v economy without consciously earning?

Turning it around 🔁

On the flipside, you could also allow users to pay to skip ads... I feel like this idea could be used from either end of the advertisement spectrum. I'm thinking something like AdBlocker + Alby... 🛑🐝

Ideal integration

I think this idea would work best if integrated into a pre-existing platform, running in the background without much needed interaction from users. Instead they can collect rewards and each month get a notification saying "You earned $0.26 this week from watching ads. Click here to claim them."

IMO, if we created a website where users could go to watch ads and get paid, people aren't really going to use it. Or they'll just game it. So how could we integrate this idea into a platform like YouTube, Twitter, or even BitcoinTV...

Got ideas?

I'm by no means an expert on advertisement models, so if you have advice, let me know!
