Nutstash newsletter: #3 From vision to reality
Last week, we were designing screens for the new and improved nutstash. This week was all about implementing it.
The goal is to simplify the user experience and make using ecash second nature. It shouldn't feel more complicated than using any other custodial lightning wallet, it should rather empower users to benefit from the new use cases ecash can enable.
Easing the users into a new type of wallet is a challenge, but it is also exciting. That's why we thought there needs to be an onboarding flow:
For the user to understand, that they are in fact choosing their own custodians, we opted for the slightly less "user friendly" option and did not pre-install a mint. The user has to make a concious decision on which mints he wants to use with their nutstash wallet:
It is true, that this might be confusing for some users in the beginning, but I don't see this as a bad thing. I think it is necessary for users to understand that they are not using something where they have complete controll over the underlying sats.
Cleaning up the cluttered wallet screen felt so good. From here, we only show the options the user wants to see. This minimizes confusion and lets the user enter the preffered flow.
Unifying the screens is no easy feat, but it is rewarding when the final product is so much better than what it used to be. There is still a long way to go till nutstashs facelift is completed, but we've made some good progress so far.
I'm working hard on making the best ecash PWA wallet possible, your inputs and feedbacks are highly appreciated!
Thanks for reading, and congrats for the first, you can claim this cypherbuck.
