The hackathon just started this week, so just a brief update here. An update to the follow recommendations during profile creation just went live. There still is a static list of 4-5 profiles, but then the site also loads in the trending profiles via the nostr.band API (shout-out to brugeman) and lets you follow them. Fingers crossed those are good recommendations, always something to wonder when you pull in external data and present it to users.

A downside to driving new users to already trending profiles, is that it makes those trending ones even more trending. Not super ideal, but maybe future versions can let you search profiles or tags and then show tips. One step at a time.

While testing, it became clear that the transition from creating a profile to then viewing it is not smooth, so that will be the next thing to improve. The first time you see your profile, you should be blown away and have clear options for next steps available to you.
