Lightning2Email - Pitch
Problems & Solutions 🚨
-
Switching to a new wallet is hard after you typed your old lightning address in many websites and gave it to many people - ln2.email gives you a static address that redirects payments to your current wallet, and makes it easy to change it.
-
Memorizing your wallet address and letting others find it, is hard - the lightning address that ln2.email creates for you is simply your email + ".ln2.email".
How was it built? ðŸ›
-
NodeJS, NextJS, Typescript.
-
vercel.com backend + api to create subdomains on the fly.
-
Lightning Technology: lightning address + lnurlp REST api.
Future ideas and improvements 💡
-
ln2mobi: Similar but to phone numbers (payments to @ln2.mobi will be forwarded to your current lightning wallet). I already bought the ln2.mobi domain.
-
Support onion addresses - right now the backend uses "307 Redirect" that works fine for normal addresses (on every paying wallet that I've checked), but not when the target address is a ".onion" address. Maybe we could figure a different hack for that (like making the initial GET request on our backend and replying with the response).
-
Smartphone Apps that automatically search your contact list, and let you know which of your contacts has configured his ln2.email or ln2.mobi addresses. The app shouldn't be a wallet on its own, but it could open your default wallet when you choose a contact.
