"Let's meet at your house!" Decentralized edition: Let's think about it together!

"Let's meet at your house!" - A simple statement that grew into a new idea.

📖 A little backstory

There are many ways to interact online, be it via text, audio, video or a combination of those, yet there's a medium that took the interactions to another level: videogames.

The concept of "socializing" and "playing" often go hand in hand and it was proven to be successful many, many times.

One of the best example are MMORPGs, games that let you build an identity online and then join a digital world that often grow into a community that can become a big part of someones life.

Another example is VRChat, a game that feels like a reversed version of an MMORPG, where the "social" part seems stronger than the "game" part.

Metaverse is another name that comes up when talking about a "playable social network".

With all that said, there's a social network that can join the party: Nostr, a protocol that let you connect with others, with the freedom of choosing where and how. The freedom of choosing "how" quickly became the killer concept of Nostr, it led to build dozens, even hundreds of clients to consume, more and more type of content and introduced new types of interactions never seem in any other social network.

💡 The idea

Inspired by all those examples I came up with the idea of building something that would bring everything together, with the help of the Nostr protocol.

In my imagination a "social game" build with the Nostr protocol would feel more like a IRL meetup, where you can speak and interact with others, almost like you would in any other client already around, the biggest difference would be to being able to face each other, walk together and visit "virtual" locations, be it a picnic at a park, a walk in space or a cosy night around a fire.

🎨 Many possibilities

A game don't only have a text chat, it's a unique blend of audiovisual interactions, as that many people with different talents can work together to build an ecosystem that can allow everyone to participate: Artists, musicians, programmers and so on...

For all that to be feasible, there should be some rules that allow compatibility and composability of all the parts, while still being easy to extend as needed by anyone.

🫂 "Built with" the Nostr

The Nostr has many implementations that allow total freedom and creativity but at a cost, many isolated tools that do one thing well, but no app can "talk" with each other.

This project should only add on what is already there and let it be optional, being able to talk under the stars from different planets is such a romantic idea... 😘

Being a project for the community it's only fair to be build by more than one person. Any suggestion or ideas are welcome, let's build something great together!

In the meantime I'll be working on a base structure to share with you in the following days.
