#learninpublic

Why keep things to yourself when you could learn from the experience of others? Learning in public (#learninpublic) is a commitment you where you shed the shame of not knowing enough and opening yourself up to get feedback from peers and experts who come across your progress updates.

Sharing what you’re working on with others, even if it is your hobby, side project, random facts, or tips and tricks you’ve come across, is learning in public. In doing so, everyone can learn from your journey, and we motivate and help each other out. This also improves our own work habits through the engagement we create with others.

Learning in public is:

  • Opening up your learning and work progress to the online community

  • Receiving feedback from peers and experts as you progress

  • Sharing anything you like from side projects, to hobbies, even tips and tricks and getting valuable insights

  • Changing your habits and getting encouraged to keep going from a community that backs you!

How to learn in public?

First, choose a platform for your public learning. This can be anything from social media favourites like Twitter or YouTube, or since you’re here, use our BOLT.FUN Stories platform as the perfect place to learn in public. Regardless of your preference, start with one or two platforms that you enjoy and then expand from there. If you’re using an existing platform, you can either start a new blog or contribute to an existing community. If you’re creating your own platform, make sure you create a compelling proposition to incentivise people to join your community. Once you’ve decided on a platform, start by sharing your ideas, works in progress, and what you’re learning along the way.

Sharing Stories

You might already be asking yourself what are some advantages of using a platform like BOLT.FUNStories compared to a social media giant like Twitter. For starters, Twitter has too much noise. As with any mega enterprise, Twitter lack lacks the personal element. Therefore, what makes our platform unique is that:

  • we are building a social network for makers with bitcoin principals of sovereign ownership baked into it

  • we experiment with new technologies that give you ownership of your data (like nostr for the Comments feature in Stories)

We are a bitcoin only maker community platform. We strive to make BOLT.FUN a place where we help and motivate each other without the clutter of the mainstream social media platforms while bringing together a community of like-minded people.

Bolt.Fun Comments

BOLT.FUN is a space where makers, designers and developers can find and receive useful information about building with bitcoin. Besides the hackathons being a great way to interact with others, so is our Stories feature with the recently enabled Comments section.

We built the Comments feature to give the community the chance to practice #learninginpublic. We hope users will engage in the exchange of useful information and feedback on Stories posts. The aim is to open up discussions that will help and inspire makers. Whilst speaking of motivation, you already know that users can give you sats for your stories, but you also can get tipped sats for your great comments as well!
