Introducing Comments 💬
As you all have already heard a few weeks ago, we launched our Stories ✍️ feature. While that was an exciting launch, there was still plenty of work left to do. So we immediately set off on building the next feature on our roadmap that would allow readers to comment on stories.
We’re building a virtual maker space, to promote building and learning with bitcoin in public. It’s important for peers in our community to give feedback, and open up to lively discussions in order to gain new perspectives. When we share our knowledge, and experience we can all grow together. Well, wait no more, Comments 💬 has been built and deployed.
What are comments? 🤷
Comments allow you to give feedback on a maker’s story. Our main purpose is to increase community engagement. As we are all learners, we think that this will be a very constructive feature that would allow users to share information and thus help individuals and the maker community grow. Makers can also reply to comments, ensuring the conversation can continue and multiple users can share their points of view.
How to use them 🦾
Everyone can use our Comments 💬 feature. All you have to do is connect your maker profile by signing in using an lnurl-auth enabled lightning wallet. Don’t forget to add a Lightning Address to your maker profile so you can receive sats from other makers when you drop lit 🔥 comments.
Once you’ve connected your maker profile, just go to any story and drop a comment in the discussion section at the bottom!
Upvoting comments 🔥
Makers can also upvote comments, dropping sats to anyone who provides useful replies in the discussion section of a story. It will also be a way to curate popular responses and aggregate them towards the top of the story’s discussion board.
#PoweredByNostr 🛰
Our new Comments 💬 feature is powered by Nostr, an open protocol that enables the creation of censorship-resistant global “social” networks. We used this protocol for several reasons, such as its ability to increase censorship resistance and ease data migration. However, like any novel technology, there are certain workarounds and drawbacks for makers. To find out more about how BOLT🔩FUN uses Nostr, how your comment data gets stored, and how to access your Nostr keys, please read this article.
Big shout out to fiatjaf who helped us build the base of this commenting widget, as well as the rest of the Nostr crew, and contributors.
