Information design, new BOLT.FUN projects - Week 24

Over the past week, I have been actively involved in various design projects for BOLT.FUN, including the creation of assets like a landing page and animation components. Additionally, I dedicated time to designing merchandise for AB23. A significant portion of my week was devoted to an upcoming hackathon project.

Challenges

One of the notable challenges in the upcoming hackathon project was crafting a flyer for the event. This flyer had to feature a BOLT.FUN section containing a QR code and succinct lines describing BOLT.FUN's mission and opportunities. While the text was rich in information, the format demanded that I carefully select critical details for inclusion in the design. Another substantial challenge was to design a fresh BOLT.FUN landing page, along with animation assets covering all pages of our website.

Progress

During this week, I delved into the realm of communication design, realizing the importance of refining text and copy design. It became evident that merely creating visually appealing content is insufficient; the role of a designer extends to effectively conveying information in an engaging manner. The provided examples illustrate the evolution of text and information design, progressing from dense, unengaging content to innovative solutions. To tackle this challenge, we introduced various graphic elements and color schemes to signify text hierarchy and enhance reader engagement. Even lengthy paragraphs were rendered digestible in the flyer's compact format, thanks to the addition of visual cues in the form of red pen-like lines and drawings.

Furthermore, I participated in the conceptualization of the Legends of Lightning Vol.2 tournament. This creative process was immensely exciting and enjoyable. We explored a metallic, Guardians of the Galaxy-inspired style for this year's tournament and harnessed various AI tools like Midjourney and Dream Studio to generate captivating visuals for the background. I acquired valuable experience in using these tools, experimenting with prompts and commands to achieve desired outcomes. These visuals served as the foundation for stunning animations crafted by our motion designer, Pavle, effectively weaving our narrative together.

Plans

I will work on creating components for a larger animation project, and I'm eager to contribute my design expertise to this venture. Additionally, I plan to delve into badge design, a key element slated for incorporation into our platform. These badges will play a significant role in enhancing user engagement and recognition within our community.
