How to get your #LegendsofLightning project ready for the judges 💪

Dear #LegendsofLightning participants,

The #LegendsofLightning submission deadline is set for December 10th, 2023. With two weeks left you’re probably on the last phases of your #LegendsofLightning hackathon project. Keep up the amazing work! 🚀

Now you want to know how to present your entry to the judges and win the prizes 🏆.

Read on to find out how to submit your work and get it evaluated. We’ll also give you all the info about the tournament scoring criteria. 

Getting your project ready for the judges 🎁

So your project is ready for evaluation, and you want to submit it. Here are the steps that you need to take.

1. Fill out your project details on the project submission page.

2. Give your project a name, a short one-liner description and a fuller description, as well as a link to your project’s website.

1. Record a demo video and paste its link in one of the link fields. Use a video platform like Loom or YouTube. This video will be the primary source from which the judges will evaluate your work. Try to keep it short, but miss nothing essential.

Your project doesn’t need to be completed. You just need to pitch it, show that you’re committed to work on it / #builldinpublic and show your team’s progress since you entered the tournament. For a sample of successful submissions, check out Lightsats, PhotoBolt and Nosta. 

Judging criteria breakdown👨‍⚖️

Now that you’ve submitted your project’s GitHub page and video, let’s show you how the judges will score your work. 📈

Scoring is based on 7 criteria. Each section is worth 10 points. Therefore, you get a score of 1-10 for each, with a maximum score of 70.

1. Value proposition - How does your project answer market demands?

2. Innovation - How innovative is your project? What newness does it bring to the field?

3. Integration and scalability - Does it use Bitcoin/Lightning? How does it scale?

4. Execution - How well does your project work, on both the front-end and back-end?

5. UI/UX design - How well do the interface and design look and feel? Does the navigation flow smoothly? How good is the user experience?

6. Transparency - How transparently was your project built?

7. Je ne sais quoi - That special ingredient that gives your project pizzazz, making it stand out.
