How Satoshi’s Goal was born

Satoshi’s Goal

A year ago Adriana (39), Keira (10), Axel (4) and me (40) were playing a game at home. Our family loves to spend time with each other and very often we have fun together with traditional board games. Sometimes, some discussions about rules come around. One day Keira said: "Ok, if we don´t agree on the stablished rules...why do not create our own game with our own rules?". That was the seed to start working from scratch a new family card game.

We started by combining some rules from other games and added other rules from our own minds. It is not as easy as it may seem. It took long time until mechanics started working reasonably. Even though that was far away to become a playable one...

There I started my personal research. I joined a whatsapp group of board games fanatics (Ludo Madrid) where I learned from professional people who already had real games in the market (entrepreneurs, game publishers, game designers, etc..).

I printed a very crappy physical card deck at home and presented our prototype in two face-to-face events. The first one was a real disaster, there were no way to enjoy playing and we had to change some important rules. The second event was much better and we felt the game was almost ready to be playable for everyone. We called the game "Day of Genesis".

By then we had to decide if the game were to be physical or digital.

I have been involved in the Bitcoin ecosystem for 10 years, always trying to educated people (with my humble resources) about this technology. I consider myself a Bitcoin maximalist so...what a better way to encourage people to know and use Bitcoin than a fun game? So, if we wanted to allow people to really touch the technology, we had to create a digital one.

That was the next big decission.

Next step was to hire a freelance to create a low cost design and a real prototype to be used. There we spent some months.

A lot of work later we saw how, little by little, game was taking form. Even a crypto fund (Belobaba) helped us to finish the prototype.

And we did it.

But problems had just started. One day before the launch, multiplayer went down and the freelance I had hired dissapeared with no solution. I think we were scammed. I could not believe it but that was the real shit. At the same time some doubts arised from the rights of the used images for the cards so we decided to cut the problem in the bud.

We had to start again. We completely changed the theme of the game, created a new design and keep most of the mechanics that were at that point working pretty well.

New game was called Satoshi´s Goal. It combines the magic of football with Bitcoin. I have been playing soccer since I was 9 so I am love to see both themes working together.

One year later here we are... A very exciting project to our family that is very close to be achieved.

You already can play in our Website (desktop) or download the demo in the Google Play Store and Apple Store

We need the last push to get there. You are very welcome if you want to help us. We will be able to have the MVP ready with basic functionalities, full in-game mechanics, multiplayer working properly, educational tools and Bitcoin Lightning for login, micro rewards and micro bets.

I hope you can join the project in some way.

Thank you in advance.

Cheers!
