Feedback: Forum Section Suggestion

What do you think about adding a forum section to BOLT.FUN? I don’t mean that it has to be a forum in the classical sense, although it could be. Or perhaps we could make it something like Reddit or Quora? Someone creative can look into what type of layout would be best. 😃

Here’s why this idea came to mind. Sometimes we only want to say, suggest, or ask something, but not make an article out of it, so having brief comments mixed with blog style posts seems out of place. Also, the comments as they are now seem as if they are there for a quick thumbs up, but not an in-depth and lasting conversation.

I see this as creating a much cleaner stories section that would be something like a long-form blog, while when we just want to say something short, we can go to the forum.

So the stories/blog posts with the comments can be left as they are now, but we’ll have a separate forum page for more conversations, engagements, and direct answers to questions already asked, is what I’m suggesting.

Potential upsides

• Cleaner content layout for the stories with fewer stories that are not stories but single sentence posts

• Faster and more lasting user engagement via short-form chat

• Easier to find answers to questions

• Answers would be searchable and viewable in contrast to the comments only as they are now

• We’ll be able to link long-form topics to the forum threads

• We would be one of, if not the first, Nostr based forum!🚀🚀🚀

Potential downsides

• Attention gets split in two, so we end up having less content in both sections

• We might need forum moderation. Not sure if this would be necessary.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I propose for thing to stay as they are now, but I think that an additional forum section might add depth, improving the user’s experience on the site.
