Design Internship Progress Logs Week 19 Days 2, 3 and 4
I designed visuals for the hackathon, social media graphics, and website graphics. I also worked on preparing merchandise for BOLT.FUN.
-
Challenges: Design visuals based on the logo and other key elements for different purposes. It was important to keep the consistency of visual union between all these different graphics and formats. I got to be creative and explore graphic approaches, like creating new visuals from one element and adding new ideas to better construct the concept. I became familiar with the history of certain graphic design styles and eras, which gave me more ideas for creative solutions. I carefully chose fonts that would fit the narrative of the upcoming hackathon and explored layouts through various sizes.
I also worked on finalizing stickers for BOLT.FUN and that included getting familiar with printing preparation and the process of this task.

Progress: While working on stickers and previously on posters, I learned to use Figma as a more versatile tool, not just for UI and UX design, but also for print. I learned about different plugins that are available to make this process faster, like Print for Figma, or Print Prep. I also started to incorporate other design programs, and my design experience is much more diverse and not so streamlined.
Through the work I did for the upcoming hackathon, I learned to translate one visual to different formats and sizes, and even went beyond by learning about designing for streams, and how can we with different overlays create a unique experience for users, with simple graphic solutions.

Plans: The knowledge and skills acquired while creating sponsorship presentations will help develop engaging presentations or similar media content. I will explore multimedia elements such as gifs or videos to create more dynamic and interactive presentations that effectively convey the message. I plan to continue exploring design programs and tools. This will enable me to expand my skill set beyond UI and UX design and delve into areas such as print design and other multimedia formats.
