🍃 Design inspired by Japan
A few months ago, while enjoying BTC Prague, and especially numerous Nostr related content, side events, and most of all - meeting all the kind Nostriches there - a random thought generated in my ming "go to Japan".
So here I am, travelling through Japan for over 1 month already. Completely immersed in this incredible mixture of tradition and modernity, peace of tea ceremonies and busyness of all the metropolises, quietness of zen temples and chaos and noise from avant-garde music acts, unique nature of Japanese islands and frontier, cutting-edge technology that surrounded me. And at this time, here in Japan, I was about to design the app that Roland and Kwinten came up for Nostrasia hackathon.
Some weeks ago, before that, I came about this incredible innovative, Japanese design studio - Tokyo Nuevo. They design many beautiful things, lately even a quite imaginative camera, but amongst that they posted a very simple color and gradient palletes inspired by Japan.
Inspiration seemed to meet me on every corner, so I took one of the palletes by Tokyo Nuevo, which consisted of just two colours and a gradient, and used it to design Nostr Signer app.
I liked it because it reminded me of forested mountains northwest of Nagano, where I enjoyed sauntering among huge cedar trees and many shrines.
I came up with a design that tried to keep the lush richness of Japanese forest and tranquility of zen buddhism. It wasn't the easiest task and I think many can be improved there, especially in terms of accessibility, but I am quite happy with the results.
As for the logo, my initial idea was to use the shape of ostrich two toes, as If an ostrich is signing notes with it's toes.
But it turned out it looked like a huge dildo...
I abstracted it a lot, simplified and used both feet, adjusted to Javanese design and eventually came up with this:
That's it so far!
Here you can see the whole design and flow. Feel free to leave comments, fork it or propose changes! Roland will probably won't be able to implement the whole design before hackathon ends, but we definitely want to have this app developed after, so we are happy to receive contributions.
