Building bitcoin products together!
When we started the bitcoin design community we had a mission to improve the user experience of bitcoin products in order reach a mainstream audience. A lot of the products we use in the space had built up, and not addresses some of the early design debt of the bitcoin software. This design debt was often not introduced by designers though, but by engineers. In the early days the design of the software was technically lead.
To build great products though, you need to have people who would handle the different roles necessary to make it successful. For engineers, it’s a bit easier, since they can start alone and go all the way in developing and launching a proof of concept. If it’s something innovative and solves a problem that hasn’t been addressed for sure it can start catching on. Early adopters, and enthusiasts are going to be the most passionate and use it no matter the user experience problems, but that’s a limited market. In bitcoin the early adopters are just going to be other bitcoiners.
That’s why during our brainstorming session a few months ago, one of the principals we defined for #boltfun was togetherness. We need people in different roles working together, and of-course it’s important that everyone’s having fun, cause — how else can you do something long term in a sustainable way?
This #boltfun platform and community we are building is all about bitcoin products, and brining people together to create them. The platform itself is a product that resembles a social network meets project management application and is all open source, you can follow along the development in Github, and Discord.
Here’s a confession though, no one knows how to do any of this. We are on the cutting edge of web3 with bitcoin. There’s so many moving pieces we need to learn together, share our knowledge in order to fully discover the design patterns, and technical abstractions that this new architecture for products built with bitcoin.
