Bug #1 - Github has a majority mindshare
Just posted Bug #1, inspired by famous Ubuntu Bug #1. Interesting that just yesterday read about Nostrocket protocol. Guess it's qualifies as a good problem statement.
Here's the full text:
Github has a majority mindshare in hosting source code for software projects. This is a bug which Nostrya and other projects are meant to fix. As the philosophy of the Nostrya Project states, "Our work is driven by a belief that software development should not be censored by any central organization or group of such."
Centralized hosting of software code leaves users at the mercy of the service provider and concentrates control over the technology which powers our society into the hands of a few. Additionally, centralized hosting stifles innovation, maintains artificial scarcities, and enables censorship, surveillance, and other monopolistic practices.
Steps to repeat:
-
Open your favorite search engine
-
Search for " source code", for example "bitcoin core source code"
What happens:
Almost always, the first link would be a link to the project github page. In the rare cases that it will be hosted on other service, the project dependencies may be hosted on github.
What should happen:
A majority of software project code development should be hosted on mesh of interoperable services, deployed both on clear- and darknet.
