Saving Satoshi is a light-hearted first point of contact for coders who are curious about Bitcoin development. Saving Satoshi has a mix of technical text and code-based challenges, but the challenges should be doable for anyone with basic coding skills. The project is free and open source (FOSS) and all the art has been generated using text-to-image tools like Midjourney.

### Tournament details Welcome to **Legends of Lightning**, a new online global tournament for makers to learn, connect, collaborate, and build innovative applications and tools with bitcoin and lightning. From now until 7th December makers can accelerate their bitcoin projects through mentorship in design, development, and lightning integration. Forming teams to hack on new or existing projects, makers can show off their progress, activity, and updates as they #BuildInPublic - competing for up to **~$60,000 (3 BTC) in prizes.** BOLT🔩FUN has partnered with a number of meetups, hackathons, and workshops to provide participants the opportunity to brainstorm, design, build, and accelerate their projects over the course of the tournament. Whether your project is an open-source public good, or a business that you’re looking to build, we want to encourage their longevity and continued development of projects. We’ve partnered up with funding specialists, including VCs firms like Fulgur Ventures, or grant platforms like Geyser and Open Sats to help you figure out your next steps. At the end of the tournament, our judges will evaluate all projects entered. The top entries from our two tracks (Global Adoption and Building for Africa) will be selected for the semi-finals, where they will have the chance to refine and pitch their projects on demo day (6th December). We will then announce the individual track winners and grand champions! Have you got what it takes to be the legend of lightning?
## Tournament Details Following the successful first edition of the hacking tournament Legends of Lightning, we decided to continue the series by sponsoring the second edition, Legends of Lightning 2. This edition will see a more ambitious attempt to onboard international developers onto Bitcoin and the Lightning Network, by connecting 5 in-person hackathons worldwide and allowing its participants to iterate over their projects in sight of the final demo day (17th December) **Submissions end on December 10th!** ### Why In the rapidly evolving digital landscape, Bitcoin and the Lightning Network are becoming instrumental in shaping the future of financial transactions. Strengthening and scaling this paradigm shift necessitates not just knowledgeable developers, but also those who can apply this expertise to devise innovative, practical solutions. This hackathon is designed to offer a platform for skilled developers to exhibit their proficiency and creativity in building with Bitcoin. It's a stage to showcase their adeptness in not only navigating the intricacies of the Bitcoin development ecosystem, but also their ability to leverage this knowledge to construct tangible, innovative solutions. ### What is our objective? Our aim is clear and potent: we aspire to enrich the Bitcoin community with a surge of talented, entrepreneurial developers and makers. We are dedicated to showcasing that the Bitcoin ecosystem is primed for substantial innovation, effective collaborations, and sustainable growth. It's a fertile space ready to nurture and bring to life the diverse and impactful ideas from its community. We envisage this hackathon as a beacon, attracting more founders to explore Bitcoin. We intend to immerse them in the essential principles of Bitcoin and Lightning, enlightening them about the critical challenges that need to be surmounted to achieve scalability. However, our ambitions transcend beyond developing technical literacy. We want to catalyse Bitcoin's adoption by endorsing it as a real-world problem-solving tool. We are vested in cultivating a generation of problem-solvers and pioneers who can demonstrate working prototypes of Bitcoin applications, prototypes that are more than concepts - they are ready for investment and primed to contribute to Bitcoin's evolution. In summary, our mission is to cultivate a dynamic, diverse, and inventive community of Bitcoin developers, entrepreneurs, and visionaries. We believe in the power of Bitcoin to shape our digital future and are committed to exploring its limitless potential.
